Materials for beachfront access arriving

Media Release - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In collaboration with the West Coast Regional Council, Westland District Council will commence the reinstatement of an all-weather and mobility access ramp to the Hokitika Beachfront. This will involve the individual placement of 200 concrete blocks designed and supplied by Westlock Concrete Solutions and installed by Liddell’s Contracting.

The concrete blocks are being temporarily stored in the layby area at the corner of Beach and Stafford Street until installation later in the year. Louise Dando, Asset Strategy and Development Manager, advises “We ask that the public do not climb or traverse the concrete blocks while they are stacked up prior to installation. They will be placed in a way to ensure maximum safety but we cannot guarantee an individual’s safety if they were to climb up on them. This will be well signposted.”
