Further Information
Westland District Council has a Reserves and Environs Community Group which meets on the second Tuesday at 4pm of every third month (commencing in February each year) to discuss concerns/issues/solutions about local reserves. Usual agenda items include the ongoing development of the Hokitika Beachfront, Cass Square, Lazar Park, Preston’s Bush, Prosser’s Bush and Wadeson Island.
The group published a Hokitika & Environs Reserves Management Plan in April 2000. Copies are available on request.
The group’s role is to offer advice and give direction to Council on any matters pertaining to Hokitika Reserves and Environs. There are keen gardeners in the group who are willing to share their expertise in providing guidance for Council,
