Fouling of Council toilets

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Recently Council was made aware of a video on social media showing the Tancred Street public toilets in Hokitika in a foul state. “It was disgusting, to say the least,” says Scott Baxendale, Group Manager District Assets.

“Our contractor advises that this is a fairly regular occurrence and it’s disgraceful that they have to deal with this kind of mess. It’s vandalism really. The toilets are regularly cleaned twice per day. However, if we are alerted to any extreme fouling then the contractor will clean it as soon as possible.

As with any other council-managed issue, if you see something like this please report it, with photos if possible, using one of our reporting tools.”
