The community is advised that work will soon begin on the construction of additional trails at Wadeson Island, Hokitika.
This project is part of the ongoing environmental enhancement of Wadeson Island to encourage greater community use and enjoyment of this valuable natural asset. The new trails will improve access and provide additional opportunities for walking, cycling, nature connection, and outdoor education.
The establishment of the new trails is being coordinated by the Nature Economy Partnership (NEP) on behalf of Development West Coast.
Construction is scheduled to commence on 15 July, weather permitting. During this period, trail construction machinery and contractors will be working throughout the area to undertake track construction.
Visitors are asked to take care around work sites, follow any temporary signage or instructions from contractors, and allow machinery to operate safely.
