Water use

As the summer warms up, Westland District Council would like to remind residents that many of our water supplies are reliant on the surrounding rivers and streams. This means that water restrictions may come into force. Please keep an eye on the water alerts for your area: https://www.westlanddc.govt.nz/water-alert-status.

There are a number of ways that you can save water such as:

  • Have shorter showers
  • Wash fewer, larger loads of laundry with the right amount of water
  • Use a hand held hose instead of a sprinkler
  • If you use a sprinkler, attach a timer
