Kumara Transfer Station
Thursdays: 9.00am – 12pm
Sundays: 9.00am – 12pm
Hokitika Transfer Station
84 Hau Hau Road, Kaniere 7811
7 days a week: 9.00am – 4.00pm
At the Hokitika Transfer Station, there is a collection area for items that can be reused. Check with the operational staff for what can be left for free (eg. tables, chairs, couches, desks, etc).
Ross Transfer Station
Wednesdays: 1.00pm – 4.30pm
Saturdays: 1.00pm – 4.30pm
Harihari Transfer Station
Wednesdays: 8.30am – 11.30am
Saturdays: 8.30am – 11.30am

Waste Collection – Rubbish and Recycling
Please ensure your bins are out by 8am.
Kaniere Road, Lake Kaniere, Woodstock-Rimu Road, Ross, Ruatapu, Takutai Road Golf Course, and Arthurstown Road.
North side of Hampden Street, north side of Hokitika township.
South side of Hampden Street, south side of Hokitika township.
Brickfield and Blue Spur Roads to Arahura bridge, Kumara Junction to Stafford Loop Road, and Kumara township to Taramakau bridge (return).

Westland’s kerbside collection service is run on an alternating fortnightly schedule. Please refer to the calendar below to determine which service is applicable for the current week.

It is your responsibility to take care of your wheelie bins. Please put them out before 8.00am on your day of collection and bring them in that same day. Note that rubbish or recycling placed outside/around your bin will not be collected.
If you have a new property or have not received your wheelie bin please contact the Council on 03 756 9010. Loss or damage to wheelie bins will incur a replacement fee. Official Council rubbish bags will no longer be collected from the kerbside, these will however be accepted free of charge at our Transfer Stations.

Remember to be considerate of the people collecting Westland’s waste and not put out anything that may cause them harm. Please remember —
- No hazardous or injurious materials
- If in doubt, leave it out!
Please note that the collection schedule runs as normal on all public holidays except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and New Year's Day Holiday.
Glass bottles and jars will no longer be collected from the kerbside. Residents are responsible for transporting their glass recycling to their local Transfer Station and depositing of it free of charge.
