Discussion topics

Racecourse Master Plan

The subcommittee received a verbal update from Simon Bastion, Chief Executive.

A discussion document will be developed with the intention to undertake a Special Consultative Process with the public in the lead up to the Long Term Plan 2021 – 31. Need to be aware that what happens with the Racecourse may affect other parcels of land in the area.

Town Centre Plan

The subcommittee received a verbal update from Simon Bastion, Chief Executive.

The intention of the plan is to produce a consistent approach including design standards and specified colour palettes. This will tie in with the Tai Poutini One District Plan work. The Town Centre Plan will achieve parking and traffic management along with pedestrian zones.

Beachfront and Sunset Point

The subcommittee received a verbal update from Louis Sparks, Group Manager: District Assets.

There are two stages to installing the kerb and channel with the first stage starting next week. The toilets have been purchased and power and plumbing is currently being installed in the toilet location. There will be opportunity for planting as part of beautification of the area. The art seat will be relocated back to site.

Gibson Quay Heritage Hokitika action list

The subcommittee received a verbal update from Louis Sparks, Group Manager: District Assets.

Heritage style lighting is going to be installed to be in keeping with the heritage of the area. The lights will be LED, which has the advantage of being environmentally friendly due to their long life and low energy usage.

The subcommittee received all of the verbal reports.
