Annual revitalisation of Cass Square underway

Media release - For Immediate Release

Planned maintenance of the Cass Square playing surface began on Wednesday 15 March, to prepare the grounds for the upcoming winter sport season.

"The plan is for the contractor to undertake mid-range maintenance," says Operations Manager Erle Bencich. "This includes dethatching, reseeding and fertilising the grass. The new drainage is standing up well to use, and the dryer summer that we've had has helped.

Maintenance costs for the playing field are planned each year during the Annual Plan process and there haven't been any unusual costs incurred this year."

The grounds will be closed for sports games and training for the next eight weeks while the new grass sets in.
