An urgent water repair is underway affecting the North/West area of Tudor Street, Sewell Street and Park Street, Hokitika.

Repairs are expected to take 2 hours from 8.30am Friday 19th March 2021, Westland District Council apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Creative Communities Funding Scheme

Applications are invited for project funding under the Creative Communities New Zealand Local Arts Funding Scheme.

Community Christmas Decoration Funding

Expressions of Interest are invited for the funding of street decorations for Christmas 2020 from community groups or organisations within Westland.

Council has $10,000 in a budget set aside for street decorations for 2020.

Government funding secured for 2020/2021 Responsible Camping

The summer holiday season will soon be underway and Westland District is preparing to welcome domestic tourists to experience the beauty of the district. To ensure that everyone is offered an exceptional experience, $500,000 of funding from MBIE Responsible Camping Fund has been secured to reinstate responsible camping infrastructure around the district.

Sparks coverage into two locations onto the West Coast – Bruce Bay and Lake Moeraki have temporarily stopped as the femtocell providing the 3G coverage has expired.

NZTA Road Update

South Westland, SH6 update on anticipated full opening of route

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has confirmed that it is aiming to fully reopen State Highway 6 south of Hokitika to Makarora in Otago in time for Christmas.

This includes the only section currently still closed, with the most slips and damage, Mt Hercules south of Harihari to Whataroa.
