Rainbow storytime at the library promotes diversity

Rainbow Storytime is coming to Hokitika for the first time. Taranaki drag queens, Erika and CoCo Flash, will be at Westland District Library at 10:30am on June 2nd with songs and stories for children, focusing on the themes of acceptance, inclusion, and self-confidence. Pictured here in Puke Ariki Library in New Plymouth, the duo have been running their colourful storytimes in libraries throughout New Zealand for the past two years.  These have been greatly enjoyed by participants across the communities they have visited.

Library Manager Natasha Morris said, "For International Pride Month we wanted to run an event that supports the Rainbow communities in Westland. Diversity and inclusion are at the very heart of our library service; the library is a safe and welcoming space for everybody to feel valued, supported and respected." The storytime is family-friendly and free, details on the library website
