We’re Shaping the Future of Water Services – Your Voice Matters!
Have Your Say on Our Water Future – Local Water Done Well Consultation
Westland District Council is committed to ensuring reliable, sustainable, and efficient water services. As part of Local Water Done Well, we are seeking your input on how best to manage our drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services. This consultation is your chance to help define the future of these essential services in our community.
What is the Local Water Done Well Consultation?
Local Water Done Well follows recent legislative changes requiring councils to consult communities on the future delivery models for water services. This consultation provides an opportunity for you to influence the management and sustainability of our water services, ensuring they meet both community needs and new regulatory standards.
Key Areas for Consultation:
- Delivery Model Options: Explore different models for managing our water services, from continued council management to new, innovative structures like a Council-Controlled Organisation (CCO) or collaborative arrangements with neighbouring districts.
- Financial Sustainability: Understand the financial implications of each model, including long-term costs, benefits, and impacts on rates.
- Environmental and Health Impacts: Consider how each model will address environmental sustainability and public health in relation to water services.
