Combined District Plan update

Combined Te Tai o Poutini Plan Underway

The Te Tai o Poutini Plan (TTPP) team has been established at the West Coast Regional Council to write a combined district plan under the Resource Management Act 1991 covering the whole of the West Coast. The purpose of a district plan is to assist territorial authorities in carrying out their functions in order to achieve the sustainable management purpose of the Resource Management Act.

The plan will identify community values and how to achieve them by managing where and how services are delivered, and how resources are used. This includes for:

  • Drinking water
  • Wastewater
  • Storm water
  • Local roads
  • Rubbish collection and management
  • Libraries
  • Reserves and outdoor amenities
  • Town and rural environments
  • Minerals and mining
  • Hazardous substances
  • Heritage and cultural sites
  • Landscapes and habitats

The TTPP team have started by looking at ways the Plan can support vibrant and resilient towns and settlements. It is important to us to hear your ideas about the place where you live, so we will be travelling around the Coast in March 2020 to talk to you.

You will find information about the plan and the final meeting itinerary at
