Implementation of Butler’s Landfill Levy
As part of the Annual Plan 2011-2012 Council resolved to implement a levy of $184 per tonne to all general waste collected at Hokitika Transfer Station to cover the cost of disposing it to Butler’s Landfill. This levy will be implemented from Monday 2nd January 2012. The levy is in addition to the existing gate fees at the four sites and will bring the total cost, to the customer, of general waste disposal to $327 per tonne inclusive of GST. It will be applied at the weighbridge at the Hokitika Transfer Station and proportionally at the Kumara, Ross and Harihari Transfer Stations.
There is no change to the fees for greenwaste or other recoverable items as these items are not accepted at Butler’s Landfill. All recyclables remain free of charge.
