Statement of Proposal - 2012-2022 Draft Long Term Plan
Invitation to have your say
The Westland District Council (“Council”) hereby gives notice that, pursuant to Section 93(2) of the Local Government Act 2002 (“the Act”), it proposes to adopt a Long Term Plan for the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2022 and hereby notifies the availability of the Draft Plan (“statement of proposal”) for consultation, in accordance with the special consultative procedure (“SCP”) provisions of sections 83 and 84 of the Act.
As a resident, ratepayer or interested party you are invited to make a submission on the Draft Plan.
The draft plan contains the Council’s strategic direction and proposed budgets for the next ten years, including details about proposed rates levels and projects.
The Draft Plan also includes Council’s Water and Sanitary Services Assessment, and the following amended policies; Revenue and Financing Policy, Rates Remission Policy, Investment Policy and Liability Management Policy.
Summary of Information
Council has also prepared a Summary of the Plan which is being delivered to all ratepayers across the district in the week ending Friday 11 May 2012. This document summarises the LTP document and includes a submission form so you can have your say.
Availability of the Plan
The Draft Long Term Plan (including Fees and Charges) is available, along with the Summary Document, and Consultation Form. Full copies of the documents are available on CD or hardcopy from Council’s Office, 36 Weld Street, Hokitika, on request.
The Plan is also available for your perusal at the Council’s office, the District Library, Community Libraries in Westland or by contacting your local Councillor.
Submissions
Submissions on the proposal may be made to Council. Submission/consultation forms are included in the summary document and are also available from the above locations and can be made online.
The period during which submissions may be made began on 27 April 2012 and will close on Sunday 27 May 2012 at 5.00 pm. All submissions will be acknowledged.
Any person making a submission will be sent a written acknowledgement and will have the opportunity to be heard by Council (if that person so requests). Please use the consultation form or make use of the guide to making submissions in the Draft Long Term Plan. The hearing of submissions is currently scheduled for Monday 28 May 2012 in the Council Chambers, 36 Weld Street, Hokitika. Following consideration of all submissions, comments and suggestions, any changes will be made and the final plan adopted.
